Pomona Valley Pride - Program Classroom Fentanyl Awareness and Safety
Topic/Theme: Fentanyl Awareness and Safety
Location: Pomona Valley Pride
Facilitator: Adriana Lopez
Component: Substance Use Disorder
Description: Fentanyl continues to be one of the leading causes of overdose in communities across the country, often appearing in substances without a person’s knowledge. This workshop provides essential information on what fentanyl is, how it’s being found in common street drugs, and why even small amounts can be dangerous. Participants will learn how to identify potential risks, use fentanyl test strips, and respond safely in an emergency using Naloxone (Narcan). By increasing awareness and practical harm reduction skills, this session empowers attendees to protect themselves and others, helping to save lives through education, preparedness, and compassion.
